Getting to the Details MPLS Network
By Worldnet
Most people are not so sure they know anything about an MPLS Network.
It is important to remember that MPLS is actually not a service that you can avail of, but instead it is a technique used to transmit various kinds of services like IP VPNs and even optical services.
MPLS is actually an innovative new technique wherein the packets or what we normal people will term as “information,” are delivered using labels.
Originally, when sending out packets, there is a complex system of encryption and decryption happening, ensuring that the information that is sent is secured and protected. There are two kinds of encryption techniques: the Transport and then the Tunnel.
When using the Transport method, only a part of the data or information is encrypted, excluding the header. However, if you use the Tunnel, both the data and header are encrypted, making the latter a very secure method out of the two.
In addition, the Public Key is in place as another security system which will transmit the data and help to keep it safe all throughout the exchange.
Back in the day, packets were transferred at less than stellar speeds, but with the use of MPLS or Multi Protocol Label Switching, the rate has greatly improved.
MPLS operates on an Open System Interconnection (OSI) Model Layer which is composed of 7 layers. When transmitted each of the controls have to go through each layer. The data is normally sent through all of the 7 layers and back as they are sent and received.
However, with the MPLS network in place along with its special labeling system, each packet is labeled using a Label Edge Router which would include all important information. In the MPLS network, every single piece of data in the information packet has the capability to skip out on some layers, thus creating a more efficient delivery system.
If you are looking for ways to perk up your information exchange, then having an MPLS network could work for you.
There are several great benefits why you should think about getting MPLS. Here are some of them.
Cost
Cost would, of course, depend on your setup and the kinds of application you have, however, you can generally cut about 10-15% of your expenses just by using an MPLS network. On top of that, you can have the option of setting up new technology and enjoy a more secure network.
QoS Option
MPLS is perfect for your business especially if you cater to or are looking to incorporate both voice and video in your products or services.
Disaster Recovery
One great thing about an MPLS network is that there is an improved disaster recovery system in place. For instance, one network is down, you can direct the traffic from that network into a new location almost instantly without any problem.
Let’s say your office in California is unavailable, you can automatically route all the traffic they receive into your satellite office in Philadelphia; making the network failure in California known to other offices.
Knowing about all these benefits, don’t you think that you should give MPLS network a try and let it take your business into the realm of success?
- MPLS-Network---The-Nitty-Gritty
A lot of people have trouble understanding what an MPLS network is all about. One thing that you should keep in mind when it comes to MPLS is that it is not a service, instead it is a technique utilized to deliver.
