As of now, two names are being considered to be used for the project. The first term, Data Center Ethernet, was coined and patented by multinational company Cisco. According to them, the published outcome must be accorded to the proposal made by TILL or Transparent Interconnection of Lots of Links. The other term, Converged Enhanced Ethernet, was the name given by its authors which comprises of experts from more than 50 different information technology companies. This version was said to be highly patterned from the IEEE 802.1 Working Groups plans.
